FRANÇOISE VAAL IS BEELDTYPE.
My visuals addiction started with cartoons on tv, comic books, and movies. I dreamt away while looking at my mother’s landscape photographs and imagined going there and capture the landscapes for myself. For more than twenty years I was a picture editor for newspapers and magazines but my own photography had been limited to snapshots of faraway countries. My wish of dedicating myself to photography and show the beauty of our planet, finally came true. My home base is The Netherlands.
Landscapes, seascapes, natural abstracts, they all appeal to me when they stir up a feeling in some way. Sometimes it might be the color of an environment, sometimes it is just a natural shape. In the end I always look for the natural serenity that awakens the senses and nourishes mind and body.
Being in nature awakens the senses and our sense of belonging to a place. My goal is to capture that what causes this sensory awakening with my camera. I’d like to catch natural scenes that make you stop, wonder and feel... even if it’s just for a short moment. In this way I hope to raise awareness that a connection to nature is inevitable for human wellbeing. People need to get out of their houses and be in nature. I already wrote about it in my book 'Zelfvertrouwen' (click on the title) and I would like to add visuals to my vision, by showing how magnificent, intriguing and nourishing nature is.
